Contacting the owner
So, you’ve found someone’s property, what next?
When you find some lost property, and it has a returnably tag attached, you can contact the owner. Before we explain how returnably works we’d like to say - thank you - for taking the time to track down the owner of the item you have found.
Send an email to the address on the tag:
- give details about the location of the item, and
- how the owner can arrange its return.
The address is in the following format, hyphens are not required although you may include them if you wish:
Where ‘abc-def-ghij’ is replaced by the unique identity given on the tag.
You can also use your phone to scan the QR-Code this will create a new draft email for you to send.
How to read tags
The standard tags used by returnably look like this.
Whereas the smaller tags look like this.
As you can see, it has an email address written on both sides, this email address is unique to each tag. Emails to this address will be forwarded to the owner of the item you have found.
Scanning the tag, you can use your phone to scan the QR-Code on the reverse side of the tag. This will open up your email application and pre-populate the tag reference into a new draft email for you to send.
There is also a QR-Code on the reverse side of the smaller tag.
There you are, it’s as simple as that. Once again thank you for your efforts to reunite this item with its owner, your help is very much appreciated.
